
Night Vision Advanced Operations Course

This 2-day training was developed for officers with the basic capability to use night vision and thermal in patrol and tactical situations. This course will be the next step for officers to develop their ability to move, shoot, and communicate further while using night vision. This course will include limited classroom, live fire range drills, practical exercises, and force-on-force scenarios to allow officers to leverage the capabilities that night vision and thermal can bring in resolving high-risk situations in low-light and no-light environments. We will address Night vision and thermal use in both rural and urban areas. The scenarios will include Hostage Rescue, Dangerous Suspect at large, Barricade suspect, and warrant service.

Mandatory Equipment
· Standard tactical equipment, body armor and protective gas mask
· Helmet with mountable night vision device (NOD)
· Rifle with weapon mounted light, IR laser, 3 magazines and 200 rounds rifle ammunition.
· Handgun with weapon mounted light, 3 magazines and 100 rounds handgun ammunition.
· Eye/ear protection, and clothing appropriate for the forecasted weather conditions.
· Handheld white light
· Sims /Force on Force conversion bolt for rifle with 60 rounds marking ammunition.
· Sims /Force on Force handgun with 25 rounds marking ammunition.
Suggested Equipment
· IR Marker/Beacon
· Handheld Thermal
· Spare batteries for NOD, lights, and sights.
Note: Students who attend the course and do not have handheld thermal will be provided opportunities at the course. Instructors will bring some additional thermal equipment for both demonstration and student use.
